Innovation & Entrepreneurship

Update : 06/26/2018

Innovation in agriculture and food systems is a multifaceted phenomenon, ranging from the creation of new varieties to the development of new products, from the reorganization of farming systems to the establishment of new modes of distribution and food consumption. Innovations should be understood as the results of interaction between research institutions, advisory bodies, and private companies, but also users, including farmers.

Entrepreneurship, defined as the creation of new businesses or new activities, is closely linked to innovation. It can be the direct result, for example with the valorisation of processes or innovative products through the creation of a company.

This requires:

  • Knowledge of innovation production processes and entrepreneurial activities
  • Support for innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Assessment of their effects at economic, ecological and societal scales.

For Montpellier SupAgro, the response is multidisciplinary, encompassing engineering, biological, economic and social sciences. The approach is oriented towards the production of results "for action" adapted to actors’ needs.
