ELSA-Pact Chair

Industrial chair on the evaluation of life cycle sustainability

Update : 03/05/2024

The objective of the Chair is to establish scientifically sound methods and tools for assessing the environmental and social impacts of human activities, and in particular natural resource management activities (agriculture/food, water and waste management).

Methods

The distinguishing features of the chair’s operations are:

  • setting up public-private partnerships between researchers and industry
  • a Life Cycle approach and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method
  • active contribution to the harmonization and standardization of methods and tools

Activities

The Chair is based on the conduct of scientific work involving PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, the creation of training programmes for partner companies and the organization of scientific events to create awareness and disseminate Life Cycle thinking. It also produces industrial applications (e.g., ACV4E software to model sanitation scenarios, awarded an ADEME prize in 2015), training supports and other information material in the field of LCA.

Partnerships

The industrial partners who are members of this industrial chair are:

  • GRDF
  • SCP
  • Bonduelle
