Prepare your budget

You should plan your budget for your stay in France. Here are some guidelines to help you assess how much you are likely to spend upon arrival and on a daily basis.


During your stay in Montpellier, you will need to spend from €700 to €1,000 per month on personal and daily living expenses, in addition to your training programme fees.


Accomodation

• L'institut Agro | Montpellier SupAgro residence hall

Monthly €335 to €522 including VAT, all utilities charges included, depending of the accomodation size (12 to 30 m²)
Add, only for the 1st month, the security deposit beteewn €229 and €459 depending of the accomodation size

• Average rent of a studio (20 m²)

Monthly €450 including VAT (plus security deposit...)

Home insurance is mandatory (rate according to surface area) to be taken out with the bank or the Mutual/health insurance (Mutuelle)

 

Personal expenses

Food, clothing, transport, housing insurance...

Monthly €750 to €800

 

Social security

Social security becomes free for everyone and without age limit.

Every student must pay the €100 Student Life Contribution and Campus (CVEC) before registering in Montpellier SupAgro. You will be helped when the administration informations in case there is a problem.

 

Insurance

Health insurance (Mutuelle) is not mandatory but strongly recommended. For more information contact the person in charge of your course.

Civil liability insurance is compulsory and must be taken out with the bank (about €30) or the mutual insurance company (included in the packs)

 

Resident permit (2021)

€50 per year for student
€200 per year for PhD student

Payment online. Possibility: after obtaining your attestation online, you may receive a notification concerning the production of a permit resident card, in which case you will be charged an additional €25.

Do not hesitate to inquire as early as possible to find the accommodation that suits you best!

Administrative procedures

When you arrive at Montpellier SupAgro, you will be given assistance with the administrative procedures required to start your training programme.

A team is at your disposal to give you advice about opening a bank account, taking out an insurance policy adapted to your situation, and the steps to follow to obtain a residence permit.

The information provided will allow you to calmly begin your training programme and meet announced deadlines.
