Objectives

The course is part of a partnership between Agrocampus Ouest (Rennes) and Montpellier SupAgro. The programme provides solid methodological know-how and skills in the data sciences while working closely with private partners.

The objectives of the training course are to:

  • Train data science managers for the agriculture and agri-food sectors
  • Broaden the range of training to include diverse careers related to large volumes and flows of data which are necessary in all agricultural, agri-food and agro-industrial sectors.

    Number of ECTS credits : 60

    Language of instruction : In French

    • Common core (3 months) in Rennes on applied statistics.
    • Data science project (3 months) in Montpellier on data and knowledge-based systems, knowledge extraction and digital agriculture (modelling, behaviour of dynamic systems, sensors).

    • Digital and decisional approaches (8 ECTS): Practical training in computer science and applied mathematics. The concepts covered in Montpellier (December-February) are:
      • Initiation in knowledge-based systems and data bases
      • Extraction of knowledge
      • Sensors, GIS
      • Digital simulations

    Second semester (S10)

     End-of-study internship (6 months, compulsory).

    • March-August: internship (6 months)
  • Admission

    The 3rd year option is open, after review by the admissions committee, to students who have validated the M1 level (first year of a master's program) and come from:

    • an international partner institution in the context of academic mobility (earning credits)
    • a school of agriculture under the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food (See Ecole des groupes Ingénieurs) or the Ministry of Higher Education for Research and Innovation
    • or a French institution with which Montpellier SupAgro has signed an agreement

    Application forms may be obtained from the educational directorate of your institution.

    Students who have not validated the 2nd year (M1) of the Montpellier SupAgro Agricultural Engineer course are not awarded a diploma at the end of the 3rd year of the training program.
