09/01/2020

Rentrée 2020 - Etudiants internationaux

You are a scientist or international student and you are going to follow a course, or an academic mobility, at L’institut Agro | Montpellier SupAgro from the start of the 2020 academic year. In order to facilitate your arrival in France, you will need to take a certain number of precautions depending on the level of circulation of the COVID-19 virus in the country of your last stay.

These measures are regularly updated on the website of the Ministère de l’intérieur [In French] in the Return to France section. We also advise you to consult the websites of the French Embassies in your country of origin in order to find out what arrangements to make for your trip. You will find a summary in the section Sanitary measures relating to COVID-19 for entering France.

To enter French territory

To date, the official instructions are as follows:

If you come from European countries or countries in the green zone

Member States of the European Union, Andorra, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Iceland, Japan, Liechtenstein, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, United Kingdom, San Marino, Vatican City and Switzerland, Rwanda, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay.

On your departure, you will be required to present a sworn statement that you have no symptoms of  COVID-19 infection and that you have not had contact with a confirmed case of  COVID-19 within 14 days prior to your flight. Your arrival in France will not be subject to a fourteen day quarantine.

You come from a country in the red zone

Algeria, Argentina, Armenia, Bahrain, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Equatorial Guinea, India, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Lebanon, Madagascar, Maldives, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Oman, Panama, Peru, Qatar, Serbia, Palestinian Territories, South Africa, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States.

On your departure, you will need to present :

  • a sworn statement that you have no symptoms of  COVID-19 infection and that you have not had any contact with a confirmed case of  COVID-19 within 14 days prior to your flight,
  • the international travel certificate to mainland France from a third country
  • proof of student status and any other document that can be used to justify the reason for the trip.

In addition, the presentation to the competent authorities of the result of a virological screening biological examination (e.g. PCR test), carried out less than 72 hours before the flight and which does not conclude contamination by  COVID-19 is obligatory. If the negative result of a test is not presented on arrival on French territory, you will be directed to a health control post at the airport allowing such an examination to be carried out.

You come from a country other than those mentioned above

On your departure, you will need to present :

  • a sworn statement of absence of symptoms of  COVID-19 infection and of contact with a confirmed case of  COVID-19, within 14 days prior to the flight.
  • the international travel certificate to mainland France from a third country
  • proof of student status and any other document that can be used to justify the reason for the trip.

It is recommended that all persons carry out a  COVID-19 PCR test on arrival if the test could not be carried out on departure. Those who do not have a test result on arrival in France will receive information on the conditions under which a fourteen day quarantine will have to be carried out at the home of their choice or, if necessary, in a suitable accommodation structure. They will also be informed about the possibilities of testing on site (at the airport) and in France.

Virological tests (PCR) are carried out in screening centres, a list of which is available on the website of the Ministère des Solidarités et de la Santé [In French] or on the website of the website of l’Agence régionale de santé [In French]. In addition, in Montpellier, two "Drive-in testing centres" allow you to be tested free of charge and without a prescription. They are located on the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle (in the city centre) and at the Domaine d'O (not far from the L’institut Agro | Montpellier SupAgro). A list of laboratories will be provided to you when you register or re-register for Montpellier SupAgro. You can request this list in advance by writing to  covid-19@supagro.fr.

Beware: Regardless of the country of origin, people presenting symptoms of  COVID-19 infection on entering the national territory will be prescribed a fourteen-week course of treatment or, if necessary, placement and maintenance in isolation by the territorially competent prefect.

Measures to be taken on the territory

You will have to apply barrier gestures scrupulously to protect yourself and others. Wearing a mask inside and outside buildings has been compulsory in Montpellier and its metropolis since 22 August 2020. You will easily find protective masks to buy in France (pharmacies, supermarkets, tobacconists, etc.). A set of washable and reusable masks will be offered to you by the establishment when you register. However, we advise you to bring a sufficient number of masks for your first 15 days of stay in the event of a fortnight of quarantine required by the health authorities.

In order to respect the required distances between individuals to limit the possible spread of viruses, we kindly ask you to make an appointment for your registrations and contacts with the agents of L'institut Agro | Montpellier SupAgro.

All persons presenting symptoms of COVID-19 or having been in close contact with a person who has recently contracted COVID-19 are invited to consult a doctor as soon as possible and to report themselves to the email address  covid-19@supagro.fr in order to be oriented on the steps to follow.

Courses & Meetings

For students, the courses will be organised on site and the details of the organisation of the courses and freedom of movement measures will be specified to you when you register.

Wearing a mask is compulsory in the classrooms, for both students and teachers, even for students with distances of 1 metre between.

Travel, visits and group courses are maintained with the same instructions as for public transport and the health rules in force (wearing a mask is obligatory). However, these journeys and courses will be subject to any subsequent restrictions set by the prefect (group size, distance, etc.).

For scientists, meetings are authorised and must respect the rules of distance and barrier measures which will be specified to you on your arrival.

We invite you to subscribe to the “L'institut Agro | Montpellier SupAgro” Facebook page also to see any updated information concerning the next academic year 2020-2021.
